Lornette "Mace" Mason is a major character in the 1996 film "Strange Days" by Kathryn Bigelow. Mason plays a kick-ass List of female detectives and cops in SF who is unaccountably enamored of the male protagonist, Lenny Nero. In the film, Mason was played by Angela Bassett.
