Mission Child is a novel by Maureen F. McHugh.

The protagonist is a woman who goes through war and hardship, as a passing man, ultimately discovering an essential non-gendered core of herself.

Mission Child was nominated for the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award and short listed for the Tiptree Award.
