H. Rider Haggard (22 June 1856 - 14 May 1925) was an English fantasy adventure novel, best known for his "Lost World" novels -- King Solomon's Mines (1885), Allan Quatermain (1887), and, of interest to FSF, She (1887), Ayesha: The Return of She (1905) and She and Allan (1921). The She novels featured She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed, an absolutist queen of a lost tribe.
