Jekyll (2007) is a British television series written by Stephen Moffat. It is inspired from the book by Robert Louis Stevenson, which it treats as a fictionalised account of "real" events, and concerns a modern-day descendent of Dr Jekyll named Tom Jackman, who transforms into his own Mr Hyde alter ego.

  • Fenella Woolgar as Min

Notes

The main female character, Claire Jackman, is defined entirely in relation to her husband and her two sons. It's rather appalling.

All of the other female characters also exist primarily in relationship to the male main character, Tom Jackman. Even the ones who interact with other female characters mostly do so because their common focus is Tom Jackman. Even the lesbian couple, a private detective and her life/work partner, scarcely have any chance to meet the Rule.

When Tom Jackman transforms into Mr. Hyde, he gains superpowers and an overpowering sexual charisma that even earns him the nickname "Mr. Sexypants" from the two lesbians. And yet... in early instances of transformation, he also sexually threatens female characters that are rightly frightened of him because they know his capacity for violence. The series shies away from actually portraying Hyde raping someone onscreen, but does show him to have paid prostitutes for sex.
