Xena, Gabrielle, and Joxer travel to back to Chin to recover Lao Ma's book. In the midst of a fight, another kick-ass woman joins them; it turns out that she is Lao Ma's daughter, Pao Ssu. More is going on: A local warlord, Go Kun, has started using the forbidden black powder (gunpowder) again, and they have to stop him. Meanwhile, Pao Ssu, it turns out, is bitter that her mother sent her away, and she has a twin sister, K'ao Hsin. Pao Ssu is angry and filled with hatred, and was the one to establish an alliance with the warlord Go Kun.
It should be noted that Xena's pregnancy doesn't stop her from kicking ass and taking names. As K'ao Hsin notes, "You move with the agility of a panther. It's an impressive feat, given your condition."
While Joxer and Gabrielle are imprisoned and in the stocks, he keeps complaining about the dripping water.
- Jox: "See? There it is, again. Hey! Would somebody please fix the gutter up there?! The leak is driving me crazy!"
- G: "It's not a leak! That's the whole point. What did you do with that pouch of black powder?"
Heh heh. The Chinese water torture.
