Is Farscape hugely feminist? Should I move it up in my netflix queue? --LQ 16:21, 20 March 2007 (PDT)
- It's not hugely feminist (I'm sure someone else can rant at you about Pod!Aeryn from S4), but it has many great, regular female characters, and a fair few subversive elements (...cf Crichton's whole speech about his being Dorothy Gale, for instance), and there aren't any other SF television shows quite like it. Take Blake's 7 and mix it with The Muppet Show, add a good dose of The Wizard of Oz and eat them together while watching Star Trek, then puke it up and sweeten it with dissolved hard candy... Bake halfway in a cheap metal spoon and shoot up! (The vomit is essential, you see.) I wasn't missing it quite so much until I started writing up the episode list, which reminded me of the sheer wacky coolness of it, and that I don't have the DVDs yet & that it's not playing on TV anymore. *stomps foot in frustration* I could rewatched the rare episodes I have on tape, but it's not the kind of crack that works best in small doses: by themselves, the episodes can sometimes seem weak or trivial, but there are long character arcs, and storylines that play out over whole seasons... Now I really miss this show. And I still wish we'd had a season 5! --Ide Cyan 16:44, 20 March 2007 (PDT)
