Template talk:Femchar

Based on Private Vasquez (Aliens) I know think it might be better to split femchar up -- just have femchar be a simple navigational template, and have a character-infobox for all the character information. Thoughts? --LQ 11:35, 27 April 2007 (PDT)

I'm not sure. Certainly I'd like to see WOCI be more visually distinct from EFC. But maybe that could be done by having one on the left instead of the right or changing the colours around --Glory 11:51, 27 April 2007 (PDT)

Visual distinctiveness isn't what I'm thinking about (although I agree it would be nice to have all the various templates I'm doing today each have their own visual look-and-feel -- I just thought I would do the basics and get them going, and then tweak with color schemes later). Mostly I was thinking that (a) the character info part would be useful for men, other-gendered, and non-classifiable characters as well; and (b) pulling the EFC stuff into its own navigational lets us create a list of stylistically similar (but visually distinct <g>) navigational theme topics, like women of color in SF; encyclopedia of female characters; queer women in SF; oppressions & intersections; etc.; and (c) semantically they're distinct concepts & perhaps better separate; I merged two concepts (info about this article; and navigation to thematically-related material) into one infobox because i thought it was neat, but to scale it up and apply it to other models probably better to split. thoughts? --LQ 12:52, 27 April 2007 (PDT)
