The Skeleton Count, or The Vampire Mistress (1828) by Elizabeth Caroline Grey is thought to be the first vampire story written and published by a woman.[1] It was first published in the weekly paper The Casket in 1828. Only one copy of this is known to have survived. It was later published in the US under the title Lena Cameron; Or, The Four Sisters. (Philadelphia: T.B. Peterson & Bros., [ca. 1850]), and in the 1995 collection The Vampire Omnibus.[1]
