In the real world, JLeland is Janice Dawley, a 30-something American who has been involved in the feminist science fiction community since the mid-1990s. She has a web site that includes reams of old posts she wrote to the Feminist Science Fiction and Fantasy Listservs. She has ambitions of one day becoming a real, honest-to-god, literary critic.

In the mean time, she is an editor not only of this wiki, but also of the main English language wikipedia (user name... you guessed it... JLeland). She also goes by the name Therem on various blogs as poster and commenter.
