Witchblade the TV series was based on Witchblade the comic book series. The series was directed by Ralph Hemecker, written by Marc Silvestri and J. D. Zeik, and starred Yancy Butler as Sara Pezzini. The series originally aired on TNT starting June 12, 2001, and the final and 24th episode aired Aug. 26, 2002. A movie version is allegedly in the works.
Pezzini is the only major female character on the show, with a cast of half a dozen men -- an example of smurfette syndrome.

- Gabriel Bowman - curios dealer / hipster who does research on arcana and is a source of information for Sara
- Conchobar - Irish singer/songwriter; linked with Sara in a past life, and becomes her boyfriend in the first season. After he dies she's told in a vision that there is some way she can have him back, but she's given no details.
