Didactic literature and art is a form of work that stresses teaching, or the educational material over other aspects of the work (such as artistic merit).

Political literature is often described as "didactic" as a type of insult. Joanna Russ argued in "Towards an Aesthetic of Science Fiction" that all science fiction is didactic literature.
