Similarities to Xena: Warrior Princess
The premise of this episode bears strong similarities to the Xena: Warrior Princess episode "The Price": here, the Peacekeepers (rather than the Athenians) face the Vedek Horde in a conflict over the control of a vital source of water.
Aeryn Sun's role would correspond to that of Xena, and John Crichton to Gabrielle.
However, their character arcs are significantly different from Xena and Gabrielle's, and the story's resolution is much bleaker.
