Fictional character on Farscape. Played by Claudia Black. The second-billed character throughout the series and the following mini-series, and one of the core crewmembers on Moya.
Aeryn Sun is a Peacekeeper officer who was deemed "irreversably contaminated" and rejected from her company (who received orders to kill her) after she came into contact with aliens, and who was therefore forced to ally herself with a crew of renegades and one very lost human being on an escaped living prison ship in order to survive.
Aeryn Sun is a Sebacean, an alien species that closely resembles humans. She is an expert spaceship pilot, and a former commando with extensive military training, who was raised from birth to be a soldier.
The series follows her character as she becomes "more" than a simple soldier. However, this evolution is inextricably bound up with the romantic relationship that she enters into with John Crichton, and her character growth falls prey to some sexist narrative tropes for female characters. (Such as the overwhelming importance of heterosexual romance in their lives.)
Aeryn Sun also has close links to Pilot, Bialar Crais, Talyn, and Zhaan, as well as a complicated relationship to her mother.
