"Women's Work" (2007) is a fanvid that was made by Luminosity and sisabet.
The video uses the song "Violet", by the Courtney Love-fronted band Hole, against scenes edited together from the series Supernatural.
Luminosity and sisabet premiered their vid at VividCon 2007. It can now be viewed online.
Their tagline for "Women's Work" was: Our bodies, ourselves.
Thematic
"Women's Work" focuses on the representation of women on the TV series Supernatural, showing the eroticisation of threats against and violence done to women's bodies across a spectrum of female characters, going from victims, to allies, and finally to monsters. The video covers events from both seasons of Supernatural to have aired on televsion up to the point it was made (and, as such, contains spoilers).
The song "Violet", which expresses a woman's anger, creates a stark contrast to this selection of images, and problematises it from a feminist point of view.
