Called Kel. She is the first girl in Tortall to openly try for her shield, after Alanna. Kel faces a lot of open sexism. She is put on probation though no boy has ever been; her room is vandalised, and many of the boys she trains with bully her. However Kel persists, she becomes a good fighter will skills in jousting and command, and even changes the minds of some of her teachers about woman warriors.
