About the IQW

Admiral Helena Cain, played by Michelle Forbes, is a character who appeared over three episodes of the new Battlestar Galactica.

She commanded the Battlestar Pegasus, and outranked Commander Adama, who was, prior to the reappearance of the Pegasus, thought to be the highest-ranking surviving military officer of the Colonial Fleet.

Profile

The Battlestar Galactica: Razor television special confirmed that there had been a lesbian relationship between Cain and Gina Inviere, the model Six Cylon infiltrator aboard the Pegasus.

Which is another example of the dead/evil lesbian cliché. After learning of Gina's identity as a Cylon, Cain ordered her to be imprisoned, then tortured and gang-raped by her male officers. And later, after being freed by Baltar, Gina shot Cain in the head, then eventually killed herself (causing massive human casualties in the process, since she used a nuclear bomb to do it).
