Birthmarked

Birthmarked is a 2010 YA dystopia novel by Caragh O'Brien. It features a young woman in training as a midwife, who therefore has a critical role to play in a caste system in which some children of the poor are taken from them, forcibly, and adopted into the wealthy classes.
