Deb Geisler has been active in running science fiction conventions since 1989. Born in 1957, she is an Ohio native who moved to Massachusetts in 1984. Her first convention (as an attendee) was later that same year, when her now-husband Mike Benveniste introduced her to fandom. Her hero in convention-running is Noreascon II Chairman Leslie Turek. Geisler is a university professor at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she teaches special events management courses.

Conrunning

Geisler is a jack-of-all trades in convention running and has worked in every area of general con-running except children's services (for which the parents of those children are grateful). She works annually on Boskone, and chaired the convention in 1999 -- Boskone 36. She was the convention treasurer in 2006 (an experience she swears never to repeat). She has also helped with other local conventions (notably Arisia) in a staff capacity.

On an international level, Geisler was a Chairman's Aide at her first Worldcon (Noreascon II, 1989), Chairman's Staff for two Worldcons (Interaction, 2005 and L.A.Con IV, 2006), and Chairman for one (Noreascon Four, 2004). She has worked in a variety of other capacities for Worldcons, including in exhibits, publications, program, and facilities.

Clubs/Organizations

Geisler is a member of The New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA) where she was named Fellow of NESFA, and she is active in NESFA book production and toilet cleaning. She is also a member of Massachusetts Convention Fandom, Inc. (MCFI) and has served that organization as Secretary, President, and Chairman.

Publications

Two NESFA Press books were edited by Geisler: Expecting Someone Taller, by Tom Holt and Tomorrow Happens, by David Brin.
