List of Xena episodes

A story about the Bacchae, who in this story are vampires. Bacchus looks like the Christian Satan, red and with curved horns.

Xena and Gabrielle run into Joxer, with the head of Orpheus; they investigate the disappearance of several young girls, and discover that they are going to be made into Maenads. Gabrielle, in her investigation, walks into a pub/altar, filled with dancing women in vampire/goth attire. Dancing to techno music, several of them pull Gabrielle into dancing with them.

Looking for Gabrielle, Orpheus says to Joxer: "Wait -- there she is, in the middle of the room with two women." Joxer says I'll save you! and pulls her away, "Unhand her!" he says to the two women, who shrug and continue dancing.

Intertextuality

Title comes from the Cyndi Lauper song, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

The bacchae are referenced several other times in Xena, always as vampire-stand-ins. See, e.g., "The Play's the Thing" when two critics mention "Buffus the Bacchae Slayer".
