Mundane

In SF fandom, mundanes are "other"; people outside the fandom. It usually refers to people outside of fandom generally, but people within specific sub-fandoms can use the term to refer to non-members of that particular sub-fandom. The term is somewhat pejorative. At a con hotel, for instance, people may may speak derisively of "the look of fright on the mundanes' faces" at the con-goers' garb or behavior.

The term has been applied in several communities with significant overlap with fandom. (need examples)
