About the GOI

Racism is belief or behavior that people of different "races" have different abilities, attributes, or qualities. Because "race" is an amalgamation of concepts based on culture, ethnicity, national origin, skin color, other genetic traits, and other cultural traits (language, even), it is inherently vague and suspect.

Manifestations

chattel slavery; racism & eugenics; modern racism ("bell curve" statistics; scientific racism)

internalized racism; see internalization generally. racism within classes (darker/lighter; see classism & nationalism also).

Intersections

See also colonialism; classism; anti-immigrant hatred and xenophobia.

Deeply related to sexism and other stereotypes and oppressions.

Activist responses

Black Power, antiracism, civil rights movement, affirmative action, race traitor, separatist media
