Sailor Moon (美少女戦士セーラームーン, Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn, officially translated as Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon) is a media franchise created by Naoko Takeuchi, which is focused on a sentai (team) of magical girls. Sailor Moon was the first popular series to combine the two genres (sentai and magical girl). It has been made into manga, anime, video games, live action and theatrical productions.

Sailor Moon is also the eponymous protagonist, Usagi Tsukino, who adopts the name "Sailor Moon" to fight evil. The manga was the first work, and was produced beginning in 1992.
