The Frost King

"The Frost King" (1892) is a fairy tale short story written by Helen Keller when she was twelve years old.
The publication of the story was surrounded by controversy following the allegation that Keller had plagiarised another writer's work: "The Frost Fairies", by Margaret Canby. This turned out to likely have been a case of cryptoamnesia -- Keller had apparently been read Canby's story at the age of eight, and forgotten about it when she wrote "The Frost King", thereby inadvertantly paraphrasing Canby.
But the controversy led Keller to a nervous breakdown, and to never write fiction again.
