Sunburst Award
Formally called The Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic, the Sunburst Award is a juried award based on excellence of writing. It is presented annually to a Canadian writer with a SF novel or collection published during the previous calendar year.
The award was established in 2001, and is named after the first novel by Phyllis Gotlieb, Sunburst (1964).
Gender issues
The award has been given out too few times to have a statistically relevant sample. Of the first six winners, three have been male and three female.
