Margaret Mahy (1936- ) is a New Zealand children's writer, whose work ranges from picture books to young adult novels. Much of her young adult work is fantasy, or contains supernatural elements. She has received many awards for her work, including the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2006.
Adaptations
Maddigan's Fantasia was adapted into a 13-part TV series in 2006, under the name Maddigan's Quest. Several of her picture books have also been adapted as short cartoons, including The Witch in the Cherry Tree, which is sadly no longer in print.
